Will Yackulic: A Prompt & Perfect Cure

Gregory Lind Gallery is proud to present A Prompt & Perfect Cure, new work by Will Yackulic. Yackulic's signature networks of aggregated shapes are the building blocks of an unfamiliar landscape in which the visual architecture of the mind-overlaid as it is by technology and language-stands in for a natural topography.
Yackulic uses a typewriter, watercolor, India ink, and gouache to render otherworldly landscapes occasioned by spheroid forms which he terms "outposts". They resemble untethered geodesic domes, with subtle color fluctuations among their facets. Yackulic's typewriter marks proliferate outward from his outposts like so many oscillating wavelengths, drawing forth allusions to both natural and engineered activity. At other times, the mysterious spheres hover above or below cryptic, typewritten phrases. The tactile and the imagined intersect, acknowledging the emotional and spatial tensions of the artistic process.
Will Yackulic's past exhibitions include "Focused Aggregate Intensity," Jeff Bailey Gallery, New York, 2007; "The Unknown Quantity," Gregory Lind Gallery, San Francisco, 2007; and "Landscape Re-imagined," Margaret Thatcher Projects, New York, 2006. His work has been reviewed in the Village Voice, Flash Art, Artforum, Modern Painters, and the San Francisco Bay Guardian, among other publications. Yackulic received his BFA in Painting at the State University of New York at Purchase. He lives and works in New York. This is the artist's second solo show with Gregory Lind Gallery.
